Let’s face it, dogs are our kids and yes, they have fur. Hence, the name ‘fur-kids’. 💗 You’re going to love this story about a dog named Sandy who decided to follow Karen Manthey’s children to school. The funniest part is at the end of the story when Sandy’s mom received a surprise text message and photo from the school principal. Meet Sandy, this is her story!
Karen Manthey’s family has had Sandy the Labrador Retriever for years, and he has always been a close companion. The dog is constantly curious about what everyone is doing and will follow his family members around. Sandy attempts to go to school with the children every day, but they usually prevent him from going too far by taking him back home. But one day…
“He wants to be involved with everything we do,” Karen Manthey, Sandy’s mom, told The Dodo. “He’s bummed every day that anyone in our family leaves his care. On camping trips if the family is separated (i.e. half the family is at the lake .5 mile away and the other at the campsite), he’ll spend all his time running back and forth to check on each group to make sure everyone is safe.”

The family was more distracted than usual, and the sly dog managed to sneak out of the house and join the children at school. Sandy ended up in the principal’s office, and a staff member took his picture to send to Karen. Her phone was off, so they let one of the kids walk him home since they live just down the road.

“I know not every labradoodle is yours, but is this your dog?” the text message read. Karen was so ashamed about it that she went to the school to apologize. Sandy, on the other hand, appeared unconcerned with what he’d done. 😂

The dog was ecstatic, and the school staff had a good laugh about it. As a result, no harm was done! The family will just have to take greater precautions in the future to ensure that Sandy does not return to the principal’s office again!
