When a tiny, 10-pound puppy was found after being abandoned on some train tracks, he looked like a walking skeleton. Thankfully, Second Chance Rescue stepped in once he was brought to the shelter and took Maverick to a medical clinic in Georgia. At the facility, he received the care and attention he needed to recover from his traumatic past. The rescue organization reached out to a potential foster parent in New York, who eagerly agreed to take in Maverick.
Maverick’s new foster mom, Nicole, had been advocating for rescue dogs but had never fostered one herself. Her husband, Cam, knew that opening their home to a dog in need would be the best thing for them. Maverick’s story struck a chord with both of them. However, they knew that they wanted to continue fostering and saving other dogs in need. Eventually, a perfect adoptive parent came forward, and after meeting Maverick, she knew she had to have him.
