Lauren, a dance teacher, never expected to find her best friend during a visit to a local animal shelter. While taking a break from her busy life, she stumbled upon Max, a Pit Bull who had been slated for euthanasia twice. Max had been in two different kill shelters and was time-stamped to be put down at both.
When Lauren first saw Max, she was struck by his sweet nature and how he craved for someone to hold him. The shelter workers told her that Max had been surrendered by his previous owners, who either had too many dogs or were moving and didn’t want to take him along.
Although Lauren was unsure how her fiancé would react to the idea of adopting a dog, she couldn’t resist bringing Max home. At first, everything went well, but Max’s health quickly took a turn for the worse. He had contracted kennel cough, a common ailment for shelter dogs. But the medication he was given wasn’t working. Lauren and her fiancé took Max back to the shelter several times for treatment. After two weeks, he finally recovered.
Now, Max is a beautiful, intuitive, and empathetic dog who has become an integral part of Lauren’s life. He’s a docile and eager-to-please pup who loves people and other dogs. Lauren believes that Max was meant to be a part of their family, and she’s grateful for the unexpected way he came into her life.
Pit Bulls, in particular, often face unfair stereotypes and restrictions, but Max’s story proves that they can be just as loving and gentle as any other breed. So, the next time you’re considering adding a furry friend to your family, remember Max and the incredible bond he shares with Lauren. You never know, you may just find your soul-dog waiting for you.
