Dogs are pack animals. They often form strong bonds with other pups, especially when they grow up together. In this touching tale, a fluffy white pup named Milo recently had his heart broken. His best friend and longest companion had just crossed over the Rainbow Bridge. His brother, Toby, a beautiful Golden Retriever, wasn’t just his mate; he was a lifeline. As both dogs grew older, their bond grew stronger. Years later, it was time for Toby to say goodbye to his family and move on to his next journey. While his parents and family members grieved, Milo took it the hardest.

As dog owners, we know best that canines have hearts bigger than themselves. They are loyal, compassionate beings that love so hard that it sometimes breaks them. When Toby was no longer in the household, Milo called out for him. He howled repeatedly as if he were singing in mourning. Maybe Milo understands more than we do. Dogs are perceptive and spiritual in their own way. Maybe he knows that Toby is listening, and sings to him so he knows he’s missed.

In the video below, Milo and Toby’s dad shares photos of the dogs spending time together. Milo was just a tiny puppy when he came into Toby’s life. You can see how much he loved his brother from the start. Tiny Milo laid on top of his big brother like he was the comfiest bed on earth. There are other photos of the two pups sharing time together. It’s obvious that these two dogs shared a beautiful life together. The video, while sad in many ways, is actually beautiful. Do you agree?
