Meet Miss Maria, a rescued dog from The Devoted Barn, who survived after having her spine crushed. She was going to be used a bait dog, but was luckily rescued before that could happen.
A victim of severe abuse, you would think she would be wary of people. But not Miss Maria.
She can’t get enough attention!
Now bi-pedal, she is part of a program to help teach kids how to treat animals with love and respect. On this visit, she met fourth graders at Dixon Educational Learning Academy in Detroit, Michigan to help teach a part of the Good Pet Guardian Lesson Plans.
She just LOVES all the attention she receives from the kids.
Programs like Good Pet Guardian Lesson Plans are essential in helping teach the next generation how to care for pets and to end the cycle of dog fights and animal abuse. Is there a program like this in your town? If not, and you are interested in the program, go to the World Animal Awareness Society’s (WA2S) website.
