This story really tugged on our heartstrings and the transformation of this dog is unbelievable! Augustus, the dog, is going to have you in shock in this scenario. He was born covered in hard, thick scales as a result of awful treatment and neglect.

He received a second lease of life when the people from the Heart of Alabama Save Rescue Adopt (HASRA) showed up. He had to be hospitalized for weeks, getting antibiotics and a gel treatment every day to remove the itchy scales that grew on his coat.

Nobody knew what breed he was; in fact, some people were doubtful if he was even a canine. But with enough love and attention, we were able to see that not only is he still full of life, but he’s also a healthy, stunning puppy.
