We find ourselves most at peace when we enjoy the comforts of life. The weight of the world seems to melt away when we go to our happy place. For many of us, our greatest source of comfort comes from feeling safe, and that, unfortunately, is something most stray animals don’t get to experience. They are exhausted from trying to survive and must remain on high alert at all times. Homeless dogs long to lie down and rest, but this is a luxury most don’t have. Dogs don’t need much and ask for so little, which is why this story is so special.
This tale revolves around Giselle Morales, a woman who works at a linen store and recently experienced an unexpected encounter that touched her heart. It was an ordinary day for Morales at work when she noticed something unusual—a stray dog had wandered into the store.
The dog seemed to know exactly what he needed. He wandered around for a bit before spotting some cozy beds on display. He jumped onto one without hesitation and quickly made himself comfortable, falling asleep almost instantly. When Morales found him, she could see just how exhausted he was, and the sight tugged at her heartstrings.
Instead of escorting the dog out, Morales grabbed a bag of dog food and hand-fed it to him. She then tucked him in nice and tight. The poor dog looked so tired and worn out that it was heartbreaking to see. Compassion filled her heart, and she decided to let him rest.
Morales explained to The Dodo, “It was cold that night, and he was shivering.” She couldn’t bring herself to turn him away, so when her shift ended, she decided to take him home.
Although she knew this was just a temporary solution, Morales was determined to find a permanent home for the dog she had now named Roman. During their time together, Roman began to come out of his shell, showing his playful and loving personality. Morales discovered that he was quite the happy pup, and they spent hours playing and bonding.
As days passed, Morales realized just how difficult it would be to part ways with Roman, but she knew she couldn’t keep him. Eventually, she found the perfect home for him—a friend of her sister decided to adopt Roman. Morales was overjoyed to know that he would still be close by.
Since finding his new home, Roman has completely transformed. He is now a lively, joyful dog, almost unrecognizable from the tired stray that had wandered into the furniture store that day.
A children's doctor had been evicted and had left items behind when she left. Among them was something alarming: a plastic storage bin, where a dog had been locked inside. If someone is this cruel to a small, defenseless dog, how can they continue to treat children as a doctor?
