Sophie had been entirely neglected and left to fend for herself on the harsh city streets. Her struggle for survival was intense, but despite her efforts, life remained bleak. Fortunately, her situation took a turn when she was rescued and brought to a city shelter, marking the beginning of a new chapter. Although safe from the streets, Sophie’s plight was far from over. In the crowded shelter, her declining health went unnoticed. Beneath her outwardly cheerful demeanor, Sophie was gravely ill and in urgent need of medical attention.

That’s when Howl Of A Dog stepped in. During one of their routine visits to the city pound to rescue dogs, they discovered Sophie. Struck by her condition, they immediately transferred her to their care facility. At her first veterinary check-up, the team uncovered troubling news. The diagnosis was grim: Sophie had heartworms and a malignant peripheral nerve sheath tumor, which often allowed a survival time of only four to twenty months.

This diagnosis devastated everyone involved. Despite her deteriorating health, Sophie continued to greet everyone with a warm, infectious smile. Even as she underwent several rounds of chemotherapy without improvement, her condition worsened day by day. It became clear that she urgently needed surgery.

Moved by her story, numerous people donated generously, enabling Sophie to undergo the necessary surgery. With the help of Howl Of A Dog’s partner, Tatjana, Sophie was admitted to a clinic that performed the complex procedure, which ultimately resulted in the removal of her tumor.

After enduring so much pain, Sophie’s life was transformed. She was pain-free and enveloped in love by the entire team who adored her. “We are immensely grateful to all the amazing people who helped us save Sophie. Thanks to your help, Sophie can now live a happy life,” the rescue stated.

Rescuers swooped in, but when they got the pup into their care, she had lost the use of her back legs, was struggling to breathe, and weighed just around 20 pounds.

Her recovery was followed by yet another wonderful development—Sophie was adopted by a loving family eager to have her. What made her new home even more special was that her new mom was a veterinarian. Now, Sophie lives a joyful and peaceful life. Her difficult past is behind her, and she looks forward to a bright future filled with love and care. And yes, Sophie still smiles every chance she gets.
