When a dog lover was asked what would make his 100th birthday special, he said he wanted to spend it with some dogs. So his family posted on the Nextdoor app that they would love for some of their neighbors to bring their dogs by their house to celebrate the sweet centenarian.
But what happened next truly blew everyone away and turned into an incredibly special event for the man and his entire family.
When Dr. Robert Moore made the request to pet some dogs to celebrate his 100th birthday, his family was sure they could make that happen. But what they weren’t expecting was for their entire neighborhood to come together to make his day amazingly memorable.
After he made his request, Dr. Moore’s daughter Allison decided to organize a surprise puppy parade through the Nextdoor app. She was hoping 20 or 30 dogs might stop by for the puppy pawty. But it blew him, and his entire family away, to see that over 200 dogs of all shapes and sizes and from all around their neighborhood decided to come visit!
There were so many dogs that the long line stretched all the way around their block and then down the street. Everyone was patiently waiting for their chance to wish Dr. Moore a happy 100th birthday.
“My father, he was so touched. He pet every single dog that came through. Every person brought the dog up to him. It was so lovely,” said Allison.
Many of the dogs even came dressed in their best birthday attire. Some were wearing handmade signs, trendy tuxedos, or adorable tiny hats. A few classy canines even pulled up to the event in classic cars.
Of course the canines couldn’t show-up empty handed. The puppy partygoers showered Dr. Moore with posters, cards, cupcakes, and of course, puppy kisses.
“It’s hard to explain how special it was. He really felt the birthday love. They were mostly strangers… and it just made you feel wonderful about your community that people would come out and do that for your dad who you love so much,” said Allison.
The community really came together to help Dr. Moore, also known as “the dog whisperer,” celebrate and it certainly was an absolutely incredible day to remember. Who wouldn’t be smiling ear to ear after correctly identifying and petting 200 pups?
