As animal lovers, we will never understand why people abandon their pets. While we consider it a heartless act, there is a reality many don’t know about. When shelters are full, they may not accept new intakes. Some shelters will reach out to surrounding rescue groups, but oftentimes, especially when a city pound is involved, they will simply turn away an animal in need. This heartbreaking truth, combined with heartless people who don’t bother to take their pets to a shelter, means more animals are being abandoned every day.

By following rescue groups and becoming volunteer foster parents, more pets can find a temporary solution while waiting for their forever homes. The pup in this story was tied up and left by his owner. Stray Rescue of St. Louis received a call regarding the dog and hurried to the scene. The moment the dog laid eyes on the kind humans, he smiled and wagged his tail. He instantly knew his sad days were over.

The rescue posted on Facebook, “As we approached him, he seemed to say ‘Oh thank goodness, yes come help me! I’m all by myself! I’m just a baby boy!’” Once the rescuers freed the dog, he gleefully tap-danced with his little happy feet, excited to finally have good people in his life.

The pup’s story has just begun, but we are confident he will get the love and care he deserves. Stray Rescue of St. Louis is a wonderful organization! Once a pet is saved and in their custody, they find them loving homes after receiving proper medical treatment. Most dogs go to foster homes until they are adopted, which is why it is imperative that kind-hearted people like you step up and become foster parents.

The adorable celebration video, posted below, demonstrates how happy these animals are to get a second chance. Here’s to many more joyous days, Good Boy!
