      Hello,

My name is Jillian. At one time, some people called me “Eureka”. I never answered to that.

A couple of years ago, I was lost, hungry, alone and cold. I was walking down a busy street when a police officer saw me and picked me up. I was so ashamed. I had been arrested!

Turns out, that scary ride in the back of a police car was the best thing that could have happened. You see, my mom was a 911 dispatcher at the time. The policeman called dispatch and my mom answered the phone. He asked her if anyone up there wanted a little dog. The next thing I knew, I was at the police station and this lady (my mom) opened the police car door and pulled me out. She petted me and held me and I started to feel comfortable. But then, she put me back in the car and told him to take me to the shelter?!? I thought for sure she was going to take me home. I was sad.

The shelter was noisy and full of sad dogs. Before long, I heard of dogs getting to meet people and some were being adopted. I wondered why I never got to meet people.

Then, one day they brought me into a room and there was the lady (my mom). She had another dog with her. She said something about wanting us to meet. I was on my best behavior. Jackson and I said hello (by sniffing each other) and I kept wanting to show him the toys. My mom talked to the shelter people. She petted me and they took me away, back to my kennel. I was so sad. Why wasn’t I being adopted? I thought she liked me.

A couple of days later, I got to go for a ride. I was excited until I saw it was the vet’s office. They gave me some medicine and when I woke up, my tummy was a little sore. BUT, there was the lady! My forever mom had come to take me home!

Turns out, she sent me to the shelter that night because she wanted to make sure my former family wasn’t looking for me. That’s why I never got to meet anyone there. My mom had already said she wanted me to come live with her if my former family never came. The day I met my brother, she had to leave me there so the shelter could arrange my hysterectomy (Mommy doesn’t call it “getting fixed”. She says there was nothing wrong to fix. It was a medical procedure). It was shelter policy that I had it done before I left the shelter.

I cuddled with mommy all night, that first night she brought me home. Now, I live in a house with my mom, fur brother and my human sister. Life is wonderful now. I almost never think about the day I was arrested… but I’ll always remember the day mom bailed me out!
