My boy Sruffy is a big talker. He tells me by a certain amount of barks if he wants to go out, wants to play, wants his dinner, etc. Smart cookie! 😀

However, he also barks excessively in the car and at other dogs and people. I have tried everything to get him to stop upon command. (I rescued Scruffy from a shelter when he was two years old. I don’t know his background which could be a contributing factor.)

Is this a border collie trait and, if so, any good suggestions for me?

      We both thank you.

I have had many border collies. One trick was to acknoledge the barking by saying thank you, got it, all is well, and say enough it really helped us. They are doing a job, and we need to let them know they did it fine but they are done. Border collies have jobs and we need to let them work but then tell them they are done.
