My husky pup is 10 weeks old, she is house trained and walks well on the lead but I can’t get her to stop biting and nipping. I’ve tried everything, and scolding her makes no difference. Please help.

Hi, Skysmummy. I have two 5 month old husky pups and they still nip and bite, though not as bad as they did when they were younger. Unfortunately, its something that puppies have to grow out of. I made sure mine had chew toys and bones to give them when they started biting me and directed their attention to those. It helped to keep them occupied with their chew toys instead of my fingers and toes! So give your baby toys and puppy safe bones and be patient! This too shall pass! Good luck!

Hi, I have an American bulldog who was very nippie. I know that it needs correcting and they need to understand that skin is delicate and not for chewing on. I tried the yelping and it does work, by that I mean when your dog mouths you or nips you say ouch really loudly and high pitched just like one of her siblings would. FIling that I know that association with a loud noise will prevent unwanted behaviour. I used a tin with coins in and it works a treat, just give it a hard shake and eventually she will associate the noise as something she doesn’t like. I only have to show it him now and he stops instantly.

      Good luck,

      Hi!
My Shar pei puppyis 9 weeks old and he is with us for 4 weeks already. I know that was to soon to bring him home, but his mother was hit by the car so him and his two little sisters were left orphans.

He is 100% healthy, doesn’t have any eyes, ears or any other usual problems but for past 2 weeks I have, I hope, a small problem with him 🙂

Most of the day he is such a sweetheart, he likes to cuddle and is always laying on the back so I can rub his belly, but the rest of the day he is hanging from my legs or my arms, he is biting me even on my belly.
I’ve tried correcting that with treats when he calm down, with going away, with putting him in time out zone, with “ouch”….and nothing seems to be working.
Since he is getting his 2. vaccination in two days and the third is in 4 weeks that means I can’t bring him in puppy kindergarten or on training.
He is great with people when we go somewhere (i carry him in my hands) but when we have more than one guest at home he is so happy that he can’t stop running and together with that trying to bite people legs or arms.
SInce he will be pretty big and strong, and people are scaring me that they are very aggressive, I am worried that this behavior will stick to him and that he will be aggresive.

If you have some advice I would be very grateful 😉

Biting and nipping is normal especially for 10 wks. the book “The Art of Training Puppy” was a great book and recommended that you stop the biting by grabbing the muzzle, say no as an alpha and replace you with a chew toy. My cocker had teeth like razors but this worked and she is now 10 mo. and has mouthed all summer but never bites.

We purchased a shock collar for our 4 month female lab. Our arms looked like mincemeat from the time we got her at 5 1/2 weeks (she was a rescue). The shock collar has different settings… Shock, vibration, beeping and a light. The shock mode only took 2x for it to work. Now if she starts to nip or bite us, all we have to do is pick up the little remote and she turns instantly into an angel. The product is “Shaggy Dogs”. It can be found on Amazon.

and such a cute looking puppy-I can’t even imagine this. Such a sweet/cutr looking puppy shown here. Wishing you luck. Hope you can resolve this and preferably in a firm way/not violent which may cause animal cruelty-just saying. I think scolding is good though.
