My shih tzue has dry skin and the vet says he has a food allergy. I’ve put him on the deer food the vet recommended. But now they r telling me to take him off the deer and give him the salmon based protein food for his skin. Any recommendations of good dog food I live in Florence Alabama. My shih tzue is 13 will b 14 in January of the following year. He’s in good health just the skin issues can anyone help please. Thank u. Glynis Filyaw

I get the fish oil pills for mine and put it over her food when we feed her. Ours is 10 and also is allergic to pretty much everything so we have to feed her basic plain food. I believe it’s nature’s way or something but she seems fine with it then I just get the fish oil pill and poke a hole and put it on top!

My vet said the same as Casey, fish oil pills, poke hole & put on food. I use The Missing Link powder found at feed and/or pet stores.

My Shihtzu was itching like crazy. She didn’t have flees but continued to itch that I felt so sorry for her. A friend heard from her friend to get Coconut Oil that is :UNREFINED” & give her a teaspoon in the morning & a teaspoon in the evening. You can let her lick it off the spoon or put it in her dog food. I heard that she melts it & pours it on her food & mix it in the food even dry food. My dog liked it a couple of times but she is spoiled & I spread it with a knife on a slice of bread or sliced lunch meat or ham. She gobbles it down with out chewing it. She loves it. Also I heard to put garlic pills in her food too. But you will notice a big difference within a week. My dog once in awhile will scratch a very little scratch but that’s it!! This really works good!!! Try with out the garlic pills 1st, you may not need the garlic pills. The groomer told my friend that the dogs hair & skin never looked so great!! Try this & let me know that you love you dog not scratching any longer !! Was so happy with my results with my dog I just had to past this along. It really works!!!

Make sure the jar of coconut oil says “UNREFINED” .
