Our dachshund is 12 and a half with the exact same skin issue. He is being treated right now for elevated liver hormones, possibly due to gall bladder sludge buildup and he is on a liver pill and a liquid gall bladder medicine. The vet is also recommending we neuter him because it’s possible that he has a hormonal imbalance that could be causing the problems, he has a cyst like growth near his rectum. All in all, he’s not bothered by any of it and hopefully we can get it under control soon.

My 13 yr old had this problem for several years. It started out with those spots, then just got worse and worse in more areas. Ears too. The best course for us ended up being cephalexin antibiotics for a month, prednisone, and special shampoo used for yeast infections.

Jenny had underlying medical issues too. She had many tumors that were not cancer. We had several big ones removed over the last 3 years, but then she had one they were unable to remove and I lost her in December. She had other things out of balance too. Just can’t remember exactly what they were. I always felt like her skin issues had to do with all of her internal issues, at least the fact that I couldn’t get rid of it all of the way. It drove me nuts that I couldn’t help her.
I truly hope they can figure it out for your baby!
