I’m graduating college soon, and so far all of my dogs have also been my family’s dogs:
      – TAFFY, “Foo Bear” (Female, Husky Mix, 07/12/89 – 04/07/04) ~firstborn~gentle~wise~
      – KATIE, “Booboo” (Female, Doberman/Lab Mix, 01/05/01 – 04/09/14) ~hunter~crazy~adoring~
      – LACEY, “Booboo” (Female, German Shepherd, 07/31/04 – 06/09/14) ~clever~funny~loyal~
      – SADIE, “Babbee” (Female, Border Collie, 04/14/14) ~energetic~cuddly~insightful~

I love them all dearly, and went through a lot of grief, loneliness, and guilt when I lost the ones I did, especially Katie and Lacey, who I lost only two months apart and at an age old enough to feel the full force of it. Lacey’s sudden and unexpected death to cancer still has me uncontrollably worried about the bad things that could happen to Sadie, or anyone I love, with no warning or control. I’ve had to decide in the end that the fear and heartache are worth being able to know and love them. Even though I’m aware of the endgame from the start, I’m never going to stop having dogs in my life. They’re worth the pain.

I also run a casual dog blog on dog domestication, the human/dog relationship, dogs in general, and my own dogs: http://humanitysfirstfriend.tumblr.com/
