Mom tells me I had a couple other names before I was named Mellie Rae. Mom had lost Boston named Roscoe before I joined the family. It had been a few months and my human sisters were sad and upset by both the passing of Roscoe and their quickly changing lives. They needed a new four legged friend. Mom started watching the Rescue/Shelter sites for a Boston Terrier. My picture popped up and my mom fell in love. Mom quickly sent an email and application for me. It was too late. Another family had found me and I went to live with them. 3 months later, on December 26th, 2012 the shelter coordinator contacted Mom saying that I had been returned. She suggested my mom contact the family that had returned me and talk about why I had been returned. Apparently I was a sweetheart but just didn’t fit with the family. I don’t really like meeting other dogs so when I went for a walk with my previous family I was a challenge to control. By this time, I had cherry eye and had undergone an operation. Mom was not deterred by either of my issues so she and my human sisters arrived and took me home. Honestly, I wasn’t very pleasant. I was nervous and anxious and barked at a high pitch for 10 minutes when I met the family. Thank goodness for me, mom wasn’t deterred.Fast forward two and a half years. I have proven to be an expert escape artist. I met many neighbors until my mom permanently blocked my escape method. I learned many tricks and am so happy I joined this family. It’s just me, mom and my furry sister Clover now. My girls have moved on. I’m still quite active and a challenge with other dogs but Mom says we’re together forever.
