My family and I recently rescued and adopted this handsome fella from a local shelter that has an 84% kill rate. His name is Lobo and hes about 7. He was picked up; dirty, matted fur, full of worms and fleas, weak, severely underweight, and had several infected open wounds all over his body. His previous owners abandoned him and who knows how long he was out on his own. The people who picked him up had to keep him at the shelter for a few days and he was surly going down hill fast. They were able to get help from SOCA so they took him to the vet. He weighed 54 pounds and is HW+. We saw his photo online and fell I’m love. We went to the vet to visit him the next day, he was so weak and could hardly stand for more than 10 minutes. But despite all he’s been through he was so sweet and gentle with both our young sons. And from that moment in he knew he was going to fight whatever battles he had to to be able to come home with us. He had his first surgery to remove all the masses on his body including one on his head that was very deep and incredibly infected. Noone was ready for the shock of how bad he truly was when they shaved him. Skin and bones. They did an x-ray only to find mass in his abdomen and after a lot of talking about what was best for Lobo we decided to go ahead with the second surgery. This surgery was very risky, not only did he have to be sedated again, we didn’t know how big the mass was. So he went back into the operating room and the vet successfully remove a 7 pound tumor and his spleen. He was able to come home the next day! He’s been here with us since the 2nd of October and he’s made leaps and bounds in his recovery. No more stitches, staples and no more cone, which he sure is happy about! He’s eating like a horse and loves his Milk Bones! He loves to lay out in the grass and soak up the sunshine! He is finally able to go for short walks but because he is HW+ we have to make sure his blood pressure doesn’t get too high. His personality is starting to show and he’s becoming mischievous! He’s made an amazing recovery so far but still has a long road ahead of him. You can help by sharing his story and GoFundMe page, donate if you can. Any little bit helps. We also adopted a German Shepherd Husky mix who’s completely blind in her right eye from the same shelter, she too was picked up as a stray and is HW+. We named her Suki, which means loved one in Japanese. She was abused by her previous owners and has the scars to prove it. She is helping with Lobo’s recovery!
