He is leaving little sores on his back legs from constantly chewing them.. How do I stop him? Or how can I test his sores?

If you are sure they aren’t bug or flea bites then they may be allergy related. Use cortisone lotion from the pet supply dept of store. That will help the itching and stop further biting due to bad taste. Keep sores clean and dry. My Malt has grass allergies and chews her whole backside. I keep it in check with an antihistamine.

Incidentally I would recommend Trupanion pet insurance before seeing a vet. Allergies are covered and are very expensive over time without help of health insurance. This made me a believer in it. I’ve spent over $8000 the past 6 years on allergies treatments at vet. Her allergies were pre existing when I purchased her insurance.

DERMagic has some great info on chewing/itching and some great products for relief. Just google the name DERMagic for their website.
