      Hello,
I adopted/rescued a snorkie, Mickita, 3 months ago who was about to be put down because she was very ill and was having seizures all night, every night. I took her to the vet and after showing her a video, doing blood work, and stool samples she immediately diagnosed her with liver shunt and gave us latulose (2ml 3 times a day) and low protein food. No one thought she would make it long but we were gonna do all we could and make sure she had plenty of love while she was here and of course she had plenty of prayers. Well, the very first night after starting her medication she slept and had no seizures! I was so hopeful! Ive kept with the prescription food and lactulose although she now only takes 2ml once a day, she is doing so good Im so happy, my little miracle puppy. She’s so much healthier and has gone from being just over a pound to 3.5 lbs and has normal puppy energy! I feel stuck though and was wondering what others have done as far as care and diet, shots, and spaying. I hope to one day not have to give her medicine and wish I could give her a tastier variety of food. I would appreciate input immensely! Thanks in advance

I can give you a ton of information… Really to much to type in this box. I had the same with my sweet Kibble. It took me almost a year to find out what was going on with her, but once I did and learned all I could, she was happy and healthy for many years. If you want to email me, I would be more than happy to help you out. It really all is in the diet and supplements. The food you are feeding is not good for her, I can help you fix that too.
My email is tumblefit101@gmail.com. I really can help! Been there done ALL that!

Check out the medication ursodiol. I had a Chihuahua with the same problem. He did very well & his number returned to normal. The medication can also be stopped and see how the dog does when off the medication and if they don’t do well then they can go back on the medication. It can be given to dogs that tiny in a liquid form. My vet determined the amount needed for Gizmo in a liquid form and it worked very well.
