Sounds like allergies. Our Dobie was on steroid shots but those would only last a short time. We put him on a gf diet and supplemented w/ fish oils pills. Helps but def get worse in the summer. Have not found any remedy to subdue the licking completely-just try to keep an eye on them.

My doberman had the same problem, I took him to a specialist in nyc and they gave me omega o3 and it worked!! I give him 2 a day with his food. And yes, it’s deff allergies
Stop feeding ur dog commercial grade food. I feed mine royal canin
It’s a bit expensive but good
I highly suggest u stop giving ur dog antibiotics, it’s not good for him in excess!! It will damage his liver and other organs

My cocker spaniel has these same problems. The scaliness can be bacterial and does need antibiotics. My vet has given me a special shampoo and it helps. Basically it’s allergies. My dog does better since I only feed her a fish based food. No beef, chicken, etc. it’s a lifetime issue and there’s no real cure. It requires regular bathing, diet changes and vet care.

my dog is a Mastiff but had the same problems. A friend suggested I try Neem Oil. It can be purchased at most health stores. Just mix 1 teaspoon with a litre of water and spray areas daily for the first week, then a couple times a week, then as needed. This stuff is all natural and worked wonderful for him. His skin got pink again and his hair grew back, the constant licking and scratching all but stopped. Not sure if he had any allergies as it happened in his later years.

I have an 11 month old dobie who recently has been having such terrible dry, flaky skin as well as small bumps that sometimes produce discharge all over her body. We give her holistic grain free food that is rich in omega 3. She has been on the same food since we got her as a puppy. She scratches all of the time and when we took her to the vet she said it is a food allergy. She wants us to wean her off of her current food and start medication which she may have to always be on and is very expensive. I find it hard to believe she would randomly develop this food allergy. The vet also said that she is too young to have environmental allergies. I don’t know what to do. Any help?
