Trupanion. They have paid out 30k on one of my pups with out issue.
Don’t get Trupaion they ripped me off
We use Healthy Paws – but they’ve been raising rates like everyone else
I have heard Fetch is good it’s owned by Trupanion
Pets best has been good for us
Trupanion and get it asap
Nationwide has gone downhill the last few years, and I’ve used them for almost 18 years. The literally pay out almost nothing now. I heard good things about Fetch.
Some insurances don’t cover any genetic problems. My understanding is that Trupanion and Healthy Paws are the only ones that do. I use Healthy Paws.
I have embrace for my dogs and nationwide for my bird
None open a savings account and put in whatever the monthly rate would be for insurance, I worked in the veterinary field for 30 years and the majority of issues that Frenchies can have won’t be covered a savings account makes more sense. I’ve had English and French bulldogs for a long time and for me that’s the best way to go

May 7, 2024 in reply to: Best pet insurance for 5 yr old dog with no pre-existing conditions? #4161697I think usually worth it. We had a pet that needed a 10k surgery. Without insurance, it was a big expense. (That was over ten years ago, it would probably be twice that today). Today we have National Insurance and are pleased with it.
Has anyone ever put agricultural lime on their yard? I do this every 3 months right before it rains. I have done this for years and have never had ticks or fleas. I live very close to a wooded area and have deer close to my fence line too. Never once have I given my dogs meds. I have 5 dachshunds 1 corgi, 2 boxers and a Siberian Husky. Some don’t like to do this because it makes your grass grow but I love it.
Furlife collars. They are like $40 and last 8 months for flea and tick. They are made with essential oils so it won’t hurt you to touch them and they aren’t filled with chemicals for your baby. I have them on all four of my dogs and love them.
I use Nexgard on my Dogs. All sizes, from Dachshund up to a 200 lb Mastiff/ St Bernard. Nobody has had a bad reaction to it.
I give my fur baby 1 clove of crushed fresh garlic and it was recommended by her vet ( just mix it into their food )
Half vinegar half water in spray bottle.
Seresto collar, they’re very good. I’ve never had a problem since I started using them years ago.
Seresto collars they work really well.
Y’all be very careful with these prescription flea meds. My baby was on Simperica Trio. I gave it to him the last time and the next he was falling over, had a drunken stagger, clearly neurologically impaired. My vet refused to acknowledge the flea medicine and said it was a pinched nerve in his neck. That wouldn’t explain his inability to balance, twitching and falling over when urinating. Luckily I was able to rehab him and he’s fine now.
Bravecto once every three months. Works great!
My dachshund has been on frontline since he was a puppy. He will be 18 years old in January and has never had any issue with fleas or ticks and has never had any adverse reactions or anything to it.
Justin PalmerKeymasterPerhaps some percent lab, some percent golden, but 100% adorable! 🙂
Justin PalmerKeymasterThat is a very good point, we will definitely look into this!
Justin PalmerKeymasterThank you everyone for the suggestions! We greatly appreciate them and we are definitely working on this now!
