August 21, 2024 in reply to: Navigating an unexpected congestive heart failure diagnosis in our German Shepherd #4252922Ugh! It’s just heart wrenching when your fur baby is sick. My Milo died last September of cancer when he was barely 8 years old. I’m still heartbroken about him being gone. Wishing your fur baby well. I hope the meds work for him.

Our boy Hans a beautiful German shepherd had cancer vet gave him only a few weeks. Had to put him down in March of this year he turned 8. We had him for a few weeks made him comfortable and loved him till the end. It’s so sad they don’t live longer we still have his sister and another female but I know one day we will also have to say goodbye. God bless you and your puppy hoping for the best for you.
August 21, 2024 in reply to: Navigating an unexpected congestive heart failure diagnosis in our German Shepherd #4252903So sorry to hear this. Our baby had a similar diagnosis right from the beginning. We were told we’d be lucky to have her 6 months. We had her almost 11 years. Vetmedin and fluid pills and we also added in one 82mg aspirin once a day on approval from our vet. Made sure she had A/C in the summer and let her dictate her activity level. How I miss my Berry-Berry (Bear).
August 21, 2024 in reply to: Navigating an unexpected congestive heart failure diagnosis in our German Shepherd #4252905We had a White Suisse Shepherd that had it, she was on Vetmeden all her life and passed away at 13 years old. She lived a normal active life.

Highly isolated, looks like just a cyst.
Three of my dogs have had them at various times over 40 years, get it checked but 99% of the time it’s just a type of benign cyst that goes away in time.
It could be a bug bite or a papaloma. (A virus) They look horrible and painful but if that’s what it is it will go away on its own. If it gets bigger or changes dramatically take him to the vet.
A cyst or growth. My husky had one is same spot. Was removed no issues since. Have your vet look at it, not the internet. They will know best practice.
Also ask your vet about chronic ulcerative periodontal stomatitis. My husky had a few places like this and also inside his mouth. C.U.P.S. is what he was diagnosed with. He has meds he has to take every day for this as it is an auto immune disorder.
My girl had one and we had it tested and removed it was just a growth thank god.
Canine acne is an inflammatory disorder of the lips and the skin of the muzzle. Dogs with mild cases of acne often have red bumps or pustules (pimples) on their skin. This can, in more severe cases, lead to generalized swelling of the lips and muzzle, bleeding wounds, or scabs on the face. I not saying this is what it is, but it could be. You should probably research it as if you can’t find anything then I would suggest taking your dog to a vet.
It looks like a beauty mark so to speak. Our female husky has one. You can have your vet look at it just to double check
We fed ours Royal Canin, James Wellbeloved or Wainwright’s. Any flavours except Chicken or Turkey and he was always a healthy weight.
We tried raw, but he gained so much weight! The vet recommended Chappie, so we got some, and he loves it, and so does his bottom! Lol
We use Farmers Dog turkey and beef as ours both have severe food allergies.
Rachel Rays Nutrish.
Hills Science Diet, large breed, skin and stomach sensitivity support. We mix with different foods, pet fresh, salmon, ground turkey, chicken, veggies, organic broth, sweet potatoes. We also feed her apples, blueberries and strawberries. We try to give her a variety to mix with her kibble. We also give her 1 tablespoon of raw honey a day, which helps with her allergies and itching.
We feed raw and Akela – no chicken or turkey – fish or red meat.
Nurti Source large breed adult lamb or beef. I order from Petflow.
Merrick Healthy Grains is what we use we’ve been going to the oncologist for over a year now with Finnegan and she said I don’t know what you’re doing but keep doing it she’s absolutely amazed she said she’s never seen anything like this before. He’s had other problems but things are starting to heal but he’s still on chemo medicine as a preventative.
