This is a crazy time we are living in but it is bringing out the best in so many of us! A veteran, Ralph F. from Asheville, NC, is a prime example of people making a positive mark on this world during these challenging times. Ralph noticed that his stimulus check had hit his bank account and he immediately put it to good use. He drove over to Wolf Animal Rescue and said he wanted to use the money to help their hardest-to-adopt dogs.
Six Long-Stay or Medically-Challenged Dogs Benefiting from Ralph’s Donation
Ralph went to Brother Wolf and surprised executive director Leah Craig Fieser bright and early in the morning. She reported to WRAL, “Ralph pulled up out front of Brother Wolf and told me that he wanted to use his stimulus check to help harder-to-adopt dogs find their forever homes. What a wonderful thing to hear at 9 am!”
The two put their heads together and decided to use the funds in the most effective way, to incentivize adopters to choose one of the six special rescues. Adoption fees are being waived to adopters as they are being covered by Ralph’s donation. In addition to that, the six dogs will go home with custom care packages from Chewy.
“What a wonderful way to incentivize adoption, especially right now as Americans are facing financial hardships,” Fieser said to WRAL. “This is a creative way to highlight certain special needs dogs and help get them into homes. We’re so grateful to Ralph’s generosity in using his stimulus check to help animals in need.”
One of the Dogs was Adopted the Very Next Day
The very next day after Ralph’s donation, one of the six rescues who benefited from Ralph went to their forever home! The shelter is going through the usual screening process for potential adopters so that dogs are matched with the right families. Rusty, a 7-year-old red tick coonhound mix, found his forever home! Now the shelter is turning their attention to the remaining five. As you will see, they are all unique and special in their own ways, many of them being senior dogs who deserve a place to call home forevermore. Billie is a 13-year-old lab mix and Lenny is a 2-year-old shepherd mix. Katie May is an 11-year-old lab/terrier mix and Queenie is a 14-year-old pit bull/terrier mix. Finally, Ty is a 6-year-old retriever/lab mix.
