In honor of International Kissing Day on Monday, July 6th, Skout recently surveyed nearly 5,000 people in the U.S. and found that people love to pucker up for their lovable pets! The survey was conducted online last month among 4,995 Skout users in the United States
Here are some of the survey highlights:
Nearly 1 in 5 people would rather kiss their pet than their significant other!
- 19% of people say they’d prefer to kiss their pet over their significant other.
- 43% of people say they’d prefer to kiss their pet rather than family or friends.
The majority of people pucker up for pets.
- 75% of people admit that they kiss their pets.
Dogs are the most kissable pet.
- 70% of people say dogs are the most kissable pet
- 21% who prefer to kiss their cats
- 7% who think birds are most affectionate
- 2% who prefer their reptile.
To celebrate International Kissing Day, Skout is also partnering with Muttville, a San Francisco-based nonprofit, 501(c)(3) organization dedicated to improving the lives of senior dogs. Muttville rescues senior dogs, the ones least likely to be adopted from shelters, and finds them new homes and a second chance at love. Skout’s survey found that 52% of people would adopt an older dog, and on International Kissing Day, for every virtual Muttville sticker friends give to each other in the Skout app, Skout will make a donation to Muttville.
“We’re proud to be supporting the great work Muttville does while having some fun celebrating International Kissing Day,” said Christian Wiklund, co-founder and CEO of Skout. “There is a lot of love for our pets among the team at Skout, so we felt like a kissing survey had to include some questions about them. It turns out we’re not alone – the majority of our community members give their pets a smooch, and we hope everyone will exchange a Muttville sticker within the Skout app on July 6 to support Muttville.”
