After His Wife Left Him With Nothing But The Dog, Man Becomes Inspired By His Best Friend

| July 10, 2015

Breaking up is hard to do, but it’s even harder when there’s divorce involved and dividing up of all the assets. When Rafael’s wife left him on his 30th birthday, he was all alone without a single piece of furniture, staring at blank white walls in shock and disbelief. The only thing that his wife did leave behind was their Bull Terrier, who she’d named after her favorite shoe designer–Jimmy Choo.

With only the dog as his friend, suddenly Rafael felt inspired as Jimmy ran around the empty house with white walls. As Jimmy joyfully trotted around the house, Rafael started snapping photos of his dog. Then this happened:

“When Jimmy collapsed in happy exhaustion next to the white wall, I grabbed a marker and drew a new world around his ginger-eared pup. Suddenly, I felt his long-dormant inspiration for drawing, for art, for life—returning,” Rafael said.

The results are amazing, and have been receiving tons of praise. Rafael has taken the best of best photos, and is turning them into a book, slated for release in October 2015.

Rafael was nice enough to let us share his inspiring images with you, and there are just so many great ones to choose from! And if you’d like to see more of his work, feel free to follow him on Instagram, @rafaelmantesso
