Champagne, a young playful pup, was scooped up from a high-intake shelter and quickly identified as an ideal candidate for Refurbished Pets of Southern Michigan’s training program.

She became a staff and volunteer favorite due to her super sweet personality and polite kennel manners. Plus, it was so cute to see how much she just loved to play with her beloved tennis balls.

Refurbished Pets of Southern Michigan partners with regional animal shelters to help rescue dogs find loving forever families. First, they find dogs in need whose personalities are a good fit for their program. Then, the dogs are fully vaccinated and spayed/neutered before entering their 10-week-training program.

Inmates from the Lakeland Correctional Facility in Coldwater, Michigan are fully responsible for their daily training and care. Then, when the dogs graduate training, they are ready to receive a canine good citizen certificate (CGC), which greatly increases their chances of getting adopted.

The program benefits both the inmates and the dogs, who then go on to find the family of their dreams. 

Champagne fully fit the bill and was first freed from an overcrowded shelter and then enrolled in Refurbished Pets of Southern Michigan’s training program. It’s thanks to the Greater Good Charities’ GOODS Program, and customers like YOU, that dogs like her can be supplied with nourishing food and tasty treats.

While enrolled in their training program, she never had to worry about whether or not she would have a meal, or whether or not her training progress would be reinforced with treats.

After Champagne graduated, she went on to live with a foster family for a while. But when the timing was right, she was matched with a wonderful, loving family. Now, they can’t imagine their lives without this super sweet girl.
