Law enforcement personnel never know what they’re going to be up against each and every day, and some days are certainly more challenging than others. Some days, though, are a bit brighter than you might expect. For most officers, the mission to protect and serve applies to the animals of the community as well as the humans. For Georgia State Police trooper Ennis and his K9 partner, Tek, the welfare of animals became a real deal this past Monday.
TFC1 Ennis and K9 Tek were patrolling an abandoned subdivision in southwest Atlanta that is known to be a stolen car dumping ground. Although they didn’t quite find any stolen vehicles or suspects, they found three tiny puppies with no mother in sight. The three pups had been dumped in a briar patch and it was clear to Trooper Ennis that no one had any intention of coming back for them.
Trooper Ennis knew the best thing to do was gather up the pups and take them back to the Georgia Department of Public Safety headquarters. He loaded them up with the help of K9 Tek and brought them back where all three were very quickly adopted. The Georgia DPS shared the adorable pups on Facebook with a note, “A trooper never knows what he may encounter on a shift, but a day with puppies is a good day.” We totally agree! Thanks to Trooper Ennis and K9 Tek for giving these adorable puppies a second chance at life!
