When adoption rates are down, animal shelters have a lot of tricks up their sleeves to help dogs find forever homes. Some attempts are crazy successful, while others go unnoticed. Luckily, a recent post from Wichita Falls Animal Services was a hit without a doubt. But not for the reason you’d think.
The post advertised an adoptable Husky sitting next to one of the newer shelter employees. While the dog got lots of interest, so did the man! In fact, more people started adopting from this shelter just because they found the employee attractive.
Dog Lovers Fall Head Over Heels
The shelter chose to advertise a Husky named Sky, who was looking for a home. But instead of following a traditional posting technique, they included employee Zackry Majewski in the image. Along with details about Sky, they also introduced the handsome dog lover in the post.
“Zackry Majewski started with us in October of 2020. He has a great compassion for the animals in our care. He is especially fond of Huskies and can always be found snuggling with a puppy in the shelter. On his time off Zac enjoys hiking and listening to Country Music.” the shelter wrote. “Of course, Zac chose our resident Husky to spotlight. Sky is a beautiful girl waiting for a forever home.”
It’s no surprise that the Husky isn’t what most people focused on. Instead, they fell head over heels for the attractive animal advocate. The post exploded with comments where people asked how they could adopt Majewski instead. Many joked that they didn’t even notice the dog in the picture. But don’t worry, the dreamy man didn’t take all the spotlight.
Who is Zackry Majewski?
The shelter saw an increase in animal adoptions. In fact, Sky received over 100 applications in only an hour! But no matter how many things the shelter posts, people keep asking how to adopt Majewski. The world wants to know more about this handsome stranger.
“I don’t even have Facebook. People called me into the office, like my boss, and she was telling me, ‘it’s blowing up right now,’ and then it just kind of increased throughout the day,” said Majewski.
Majewski also admits that the photo was a little out of his comfort zone. Despite popular belief, he isn’t a model. He’s not the biggest fan of having his picture taken, but after the success of this post, he has decided to take one for the team.
“A lot of people want me to, and it’s just not something I like to do but, if it helps animals get adopted, then I will,” Majewski said. “It got Sky adopted in like an hour yesterday, and we had over a hundred calls on her so, it was pretty great.”
If you’re one of the dog lovers who has a crush on this handsome shelter worker, then keep your eyes peeled. He might be helping more dogs get adopted in the future!
