Judge Judy Lets Dog Tell The Truth In A Canine Custody Battle

| August 15, 2017

We love people who stand up for our four-legged companions, and when they’re able to serve up some real justice, it’s even sweeter.

Pet advocates everywhere admire Judge Cicconetti, the judge who dishes out creative sentences to animal abusers. As it turns out, the TV-famous Judge Judy also has a soft spot for our furry friends.

In a recent custody battle over a curly-haired canine, two families each claimed that the pup was theirs. The mother-daughter defendants purchased the dog from a seedy seller, but the man said that the pup was originally his, and had been stolen.

As it so happened, the mother-daughter pair had brought the dog in question to the courthouse. So, Judge Judy decided that the best way to find out the truth was to ask the most honest one involved in this case: the dog, Baby Boy! When one of the defendants carried him into the courtroom, the ruling became perfectly clear.

Watch the dog’s heartwarming reaction in the video below:

Wasn’t that the sweetest thing to watch? It seemed like the defendant was hesitant to let Baby Boy choose his rightful owner, and around the 1:20 minute mark, it sounds like her mother is saying, “don’t, don’t, don’t” when her daughter is instructed to release him. After the pup’s obvious show of affection toward his real dad, the defendant mother mutters, “He does that to everybody.”

It’s sad that the mother had daughter had grown attached to Baby Boy, who they thought they bought fair and square. But everyone with a dog knows that this pooch’s reunion with his human was a deliberate act of happiness and love, even if he is normally friendly to everyone.

After he won, the relieved dog-dad gave the audience a reminder about purchasing pets. “That’s what happens when you buy a dog for 50 bucks in front of the mall,” he said in the post-case interview. This is one of the many reasons why pets should never be bought from stores or illegitimate sellers.

We’re glad that this pup is finally going to his rightful home. Judge Judy is known for her no-nonsense wisdom, which she proved once more by letting Baby Boy do the “talking” in this case. She must know that unlike humans, dogs simply cannot lie!
