Despite the many differences between dogs and humans, both species grieve similarly. We might not realize it, but our dogs are often just as heartbroken after the loss of a family member. People still come and go without noticing the stray dogs, but some individuals are trying to change that. One woman came back for more water not long after finding two of the most beautiful puppies, setting off a chain reaction she never expected.
Mama dog had spent her whole life on the streets. Sure, she struggled but she had no desire to change her fate. She took excellent care of her pups and led them to a shaded area where kind humans would find them.
Mama knew the moment she turned back to get one last look at her dog, she was doing the right thing; Her sacrifice will never be forgotten. After seeing her dogs picked up by rescuers, Mama wandered away.
The puppies are happy to see these kind humans who happen to have food and water. They wag their tails and say hello. In preparation for taking them to the vet clinic, they need a flea bath!
Chase, a neglected dog, was subjected to the most unspeakable atrocities for 3 years. Her time was spent in solitude with brief moments of tender moments from her human companion. Over time she became increasingly anxious and her mental health ebbed with no hopes for a comeback. However, we love happy endings and that’s what you’re in for with this story. Please meet Chase, this is his story!
In a more modern society, some abused dogs have a guaranteed chance for rehabilitation. Chase had been on death row at a crowded shelter until she was saved by an angel. An animal rescuer named Eldad entered the shelter just when Chase was waiting for her turn at the euthanasia table.
Many people love their pets. But some families make an unethical decision by discarding them like trash, either placing them on the side of the street or delivering them to shelters. A villager from North Africa was passing by a dark empty street at night when he heard heart-wrenching weeping sounds coming from the roadside. The man followed the cries and found a tiny puppy squirming and moaning in pain at the side of the road..
Helping a puppy off the side of the road, the man noticed there were no mama or littermates nearby. The puppy crouched by his stomach and whimpered, seemingly scared from the collapse of its tiny family.
The lonely puppy would not survive another night on the streets and so, after a wholesome meal and some TLC, the man convinced the puppy to trust him and took him home to give him what he needed most: nursing and medical care.
A man enjoying his daily walk behind his house heard frantic cries for help. Investigating, he didn’t find anything or anyone around but was perplexed. The situation was not typical of the norm, so the man continued down the beach to see what was happening.
As the man continued to walk closer to the shore saw a tiny creature that was so vulnerable that his heart broke. This baby otter, who should have been with her family in the water, just sat in a pile of tears crying for her mother. The employee at the aquarium knew he had to try to unite the otter with her family.
He also knew how to handle the baby otter so he carefully picked her up and walked with her, up and down the beach, hoping to find her mom. He was encouraged that the baby otter’s cries would lure her mother out. But there was no other otter around. This was likely due to the large swells brought in by the weather. She was likely separated by her mom, for good. The man had no other choice but to bring the baby otter to the aquarium.
Happy endings are not always easy to find for special needs otters. As their stories show, the Monterey Bay Aquarium rescued a baby pup who was traumatized. Now, her fearlessness is empowering other young otters with the Shedd Aquarium helped facilitate her home there.
The day before this baby otter was transferred to Shedd Aquarium, she had the pleasure of being in care at Monterey Bay. The humans there knew it would be important for her to adapt to various otter activities, so the pup learned about solid foods and swimming in water below your belly.

The life on the streets can be cruel enough for humans. Animals also suffer from lack of food, shelter, and clean water. Many organizations try to help them by feeding them or providing shelter where they can. Meet Animal Aid, a wonderful organization helping animals and doing a wonderful job. Animal charities provide a variety of help with stray animals in areas all around the world, for example, Animal Aid does all it can to house and feed the animals in addition to providing medical care.
Animal Aid received a call regarding a pup that was suffering and had severe mange. Even with ample love and care, Mange is always challenging to cure. Her condition was so widespread that she had lost her hair, leaving her overly sensitive to secondary infections, parasites, and sunburns. Animal Aid dispatched volunteers to help the dog. Caring offers rolled over eagerly because she was understandably starving–but she had no intention of being picked up.
The dog was staying on the streets for a reason-she was a new mother. It took a lot of coaxing and a lot of dog treats, but the volunteer finally managed to pick Momma up. Now it was time to latch on to her puppies.

This is a story about a blind Pit Bull who was dumped in the woods and ached to be saved but no one showed up. She almost gave up until one rescuer, from Lucky Dog Refuge, was able to lure her out of the dense woods with food. When she got up, they saw every bone in her body. It was totally soul-crushing. She had given up as she slowly starved. By the time a rescue group found her, she was curled up in a ball trying to stay warm, waiting for her angels to come.
They decided to name her Halo. The reason for deciding this name was due to the fact she was in too much pain and she almost needed to be humanely and sadly put her down. But, this was not the case. The story gets better, we promise
Before Halo came to live with Stacey, she lived in a medical foster home. With her health touch and go, no one gave up on Halo. The vet confirmed that she was completely blind, but she still wanted to be around humans.
Meet Echo, a Beagle who spent 6 horrific years locked in a cage. Luckily, she was rescued by the Beagle Freedom Project and this is her story.
Echo along with many other dogs are still being used to test products in China and many other parts of the world. The Beagle Freedom Project rescues dogs from around the world, and their work saves countless lives. However, for some of these rescued dogs, it takes more than food and water to start healing and Echo was very different.
The chemical that was used in “Echo’s” eyes during the chemical testing facility also made the little girl go blind. Echo needed a foster home to take care of her when she was in her new life outside the cage. Echo needed a medical checkup immediately. The poor Beagle needed to start a new life with a foster who could help her build a new life outside of a cage. That’s when foster mom Hannah stepped up to take her in and her life completely changed for the better!
Nothing had prepared Hannah for the responsibility of bringing home her first pet. Even Gigi, her own feisty pup, had tried to stake claim on Echo on first sniff. She calmed down quickly though, sensing that she’d need a friend who was patient with her many new adjustments to this new environment.
It took some time for Echo to accept her new life. Having gone blind is challenging enough but never getting let out of a cage is really tough. Thankfully, two days after arriving at Hannah’s, Echo began to shine! She showed her playful side and wagged her tail happily at her new foster mom.
There are mixed responses to Norway’s new dog breeding law. Norway’s Oslo District Court made a unanimous ruling to ban the breeding of English Bulldogs and Cavalier King Charles Spaniels, two breeds in high demand. The reasoning is that breeding these dogs is a violation of Norway’s Animal Welfare Act. Of course, both these breeds are lovable, but many struggle with painful health concerns. The ban is in place to stop more dogs from suffering and encourage healthy breeding for … Read more

A homeless dog named Hera was gripped with anxiety after she gave birth in the unforgiving winter months on the streets of Serbia. There was a blizzard wrecking havoc every other day, making it hard for her to scavenge food or keep her dainty puppies warm and well-fed. She later crawled through the snow to seek refuge in a cold and wet drainpipe by the roadside.
For the next few days, Hera was constantly stressing over the survival of her sickly babies. She would dash out of the pipe every time she heard a vehicle whoosh by, pleading with every passerby to help her keep her babies alive. But her hopes were squashed with indifference as no one ever offered her the shelter or warmth that she so desperately sought for her puppies.

There are times that we need to make very difficult decisions in life. This story contains a story where a man had a choice between his home or his dog. This is their story.
For a man, named Lewis Jiminez, he understands this lesson all too well. Lewis had no choice but to take his best friend, a Pit Bull named Titus, whom he adored, back to the shelter where he adopted him. Lewis wasn’t surrendering Titus or turning his back on him. This story isn’t about that at all!
Back when Titus was only 2 years old, Lewis came to the Austin, Texas shelter and fell in love with the handsome, sweet Pit Bull when he saw him playing in the yard, jumping about. He couldn’t resist the dog’s happy and sweet demeanor.
For the next 5 years, the duo was inseparable. They developed a deep bond that would last a lifetime. For Lewis, Titus was family. Lewis said, “He’s like my big old kid. He’s part of me.” But then the unthinkable happened. Something that forced the duo to separate.
Lewis was told he couldn’t keep Titus. The management company of his building told Lewis he had to get rid of his Pit Bull or he would be evicted. Lewis had nowhere else to go! And he had no friends or family who could take care of Titus until he found a new place to live. Lewis became desperate.
He had no choice but to bring Titus back to the shelter where he got him. This devastating decision broke Lewis’ heart. The shelter accepted Titus but they were pretty sure, like so many other people, that Lewis would drop Titus off and never return again. Technically the shelter doesn’t hold dogs because owners say they’ll be back all the time and don’t come back at all.
But this time was different. Lewis was unlike any dog owner they had met before.
Once at the shelter, Titus had a rough time immediately. Adjusting to the shelter was impossible for him; he was used to being in a loving home without the chaos. Without the incessant barking. Without the cold, concrete floors.
Shelter life is incredibly hard and Titus was miserable. He sat in his kennel most of the time, feeling downright depressed. The only upside to his days was when he could come out and play. Then Titus would run around happily. He was grateful to be out of his ‘cell.’
Lewis came to visit often and Titus would perk up. He was thrilled to see his dad but then the visit would have to come to an end and both Lewis and Titus were devastated all over again. Lewis cried every single time! But this made him even more determined to get a new home so he could get Titus out.
Then the miracle they had both been waiting for happened. Lewis found a new house! It was perfect. It had a nice big yard for Titus to run around in! Lewis went to the shelter to pick up his ‘son’ and the reunion was PERFECT! The tears flowed and Titus knew his dad was there to pick him up for good. The emotional embrace (after embrace) that came next was captured on camera.
Titus has the sweetest smile on his face as Lewis gives him the biggest hug. The shelter shared the photo on their Facebook page and it went viral. Their reunion was so amazing that the whole world cheered!
Lewis was so grateful to have his dog back. He also thanked the shelter workers over and over again for taking care of his baby; he knew that their kindness and love is what got Titus through the whole ordeal.
The shelter workers knew deep down that Lewis was always coming back for Titus despite the other times they witnessed the opposite from other dog owners. The duo is living a happy life again, together. And we couldn’t be happier for them!

Being away from our pets is NO fun at all. Even when we have to go to work and it’s pretty routine. Man, I know I miss my babies so much! The hardest part is when they miss us too.
They look for us, sniff our spot on the bed, linger by the door. My dog stands up (she’s only 15 pounds!) and stretches her entire body so she can see out the window. Even though it’s not comfortable for her one bit, she doesn’t care. She wants to be the first one to see me so she can alert the household of my return. Their LOVE is like no other!
