Rick was a typical Oklahoma throwaway. A big, beautiful, yellow lab who ended up with people who didn’t value or appreciate him. 

His photo was posted on Facebook expressing the intent to give him away to anyone who would take a dog with something “funky” with their front leg. But his former family was sure to mention that it didn’t seem to bother him. 

Luckily, A Lab for Life immediately came to Rick’s rescue. It turns out that his “funky” front leg was a badly broken forearm that had been left untreated for most of his young life. Whether or not his former family was aware of the severity of this injury is unknown.

After a failed attempt to save his poorly healed leg with surgery, it was determined that it would have to be amputated.

Today, Rick is a happy, healthy welcome ambassador to dozens of new labs in need that come into the care of A Lab for Life Rescue. Better still, Rick is the official taste-tester of all new treats that arrive in their Greater Goods pallets of food. Not surprisingly, this good boy has given a happy “paws up” to every donation thus far.

“Greater Goods’ donations of nutritious food is without a doubt our greatest asset,” says the rescue.

So often, the dogs that make their way to A Lab for Life arrive in dire condition. Many have experienced terrible traumas. The treats they receive, while not a necessity, are a source of immense joy for many rescue pups that have likely never experienced a treat in their entire lives.
