In a perfect world, every single senior dog would be living a life of leisure where their biggest concern is choosing the comfiest napping spot. Sadly though, that’s not the case, as many senior dogs find themselves abandoned simply because they’ve grown older and need more care. This is just what happened to Rosie, a sweet senior dog who’s more than ten years old.

Rosie came into the care of a rural shelter in Oklahoma after her owners dumped her from a vehicle and left her behind. The shelter discovered she had chronic eye issues and a mouthful of painful teeth and gums. But they didn’t have the funds to treat her. That’s when True Friends Animal Rescue stepped in. And the Oklahoma-based rescue group was able to help, thanks to you!

Funding GOODS for Dogs

Rosie arrived in True Friends’ care after a volunteer generously made a four-hour road trip to pick her up. Once with them, the rescue shared, “Rosie was seen by our vet and given her vaccines, a microchip, and a dental cleaning and extractions.”

“She was diagnosed with chronic dry eye and it was determined she has very limited vision due to this untreated condition.”

Her care was expensive, but True Friends could pay because you shop with iHeartDogs! For every purchase made, we fund the donations of food, blankets, and toys to animal rescue groups like True Friends. And this magic happens through a partnership between iHeartDogs and Greater Good Charities and their pet food distribution initiative, the GOODS Program.

The GOODS Program has been keeping hungry bellies full for over a decade. And to date, the GOODS Program has delivered over 578 million meals to shelters and rescues across the country. That’s more than 6,000 truckloads delivered to animals in need!

These much-needed donations free up cash that can instead be spent on medical care for dogs like Rosie, with True Friends explaining, “Without assistance from the GOODS program, True Friends would not be able to stretch our funds to include the medical care needed by some of our most vulnerable rescues.”

“Thank you for helping us save Rosie’s life and countless other needy souls!”

Today Rosie is happy in her forever home!

“She has a doggy sibling and enjoys her days lounging on the lap of her owner’s elderly mother,” shared True Friends. “Rosie is living her very best life!”
