On August 9th, a volunteer at the Agoura Animal Shelter in Los Angeles County, California sent out a desperate plea for Dozer, a beautiful brindled pitty mix who had been at the shelter for a year.
Help us help him! Adopt Dozer!!!

Dozer has become so depressed in the shelter that he had stopped eating. Something had to be done. He needed a home…FAST.
Despite the fact that we was house trained, good with kids and even enjoyed playing with doggie pals, we was routinely passed up on adoption day.
It was then that Shelley Abel MacEwen decided to post her image of Dozer with his sign – his own plea for a family of his own.
It went viral, and was shared over 7,000 times.
And finally it happened! Last Saturday, Dozer was adopted by a gentleman with a large ranch. John had just lost his 13-year-old pit bull suddenly, they believe to a heart attack. Dozer will be his constant companion, the man said.
On their Facebook page, it was a bittersweet goodbye for the workers who had gotten to know Dozer over the last year:
Thank you to everyone who helped this boy finally find his forever home. Thank you to the volunteers and staff who took care of him for almost a year. We will miss your happy face and goofy grin but couldn’t be happier to know you will have such an amazing life with your new dad John.
“We couldn’t have dreams of a better outcome for our boy,” says a rep from the shelter.
And neither can we! Happy Adoption Dozer!
Next time you go to the shelter to pick out a best friend, ask them who has been there the longest. Sometimes those overlooked dogs have been waiting for their perfect match – you!
