These Pictures Of A Dog Wedding Are Downright Adorable

| September 25, 2015

Last month,  D Pet Hotels in New York City held a Dog Wedding Photo Shoot at as part of a casting call for a new movie “The Dog Wedding” that is coming out this fall. The producers were looking for dogs to show in the opening credits of the film, which is a romantic comedy.

Interested pet parents were encouraged to “bring their canine couple, dressed in wedding attire.” The resulting images are just too cute!

We asked Laurren Darr, Founder of the International Association of Pet Fashion Professionals (IAPFP), what her take was on the fashions of the day.

Her Best Dressed:

Lauren liked this gold clad couple. “I like the colors and creativity of the beading the cuffs for the groom.”

Laurren 2 dog- 046

And this sharp looking groom! “I like the dapper suit with the pop of purple color with detailed white dots in the tie.”

Laurren 3dog- 054

The bridal party wasn’t forgotten. “I like the fabric and colors of these bride’s maids’ dresses. The colors stand out against the dog’s coats.”

Fashion Fauxpaws

So, what would Darr consider a fashion “fauxpaw” that you should leave out of your own dog wedding?

While she didn’t see these “don’ts” in this shoot, she says to stay away from:

  • Having a dress or suit that is not fitted properly. Not only can this look awkward, but it can be dangerous for the dog because there is a risk of them tripping down the aisle.
  • Choosing the wrong type of fabric for formal wedding attire. This is a wedding and should look as such. Avoid things like prints and denim- even if it’s a casual wedding.

And if you want to include your dog in your human wedding? Darr has tips for that too!

  • Make sure that the wedding dress is functional for the size of your dog. If the design is too heavy and elaborate, the dog will not be able to walk gracefully down the aisle.
  • As much as possible, use colors that will contrast properly with the color of your dog’s coat so that it pops and stands out. Think about this when choosing overall wedding colors.

And now, here are more images of “doggy weddings,” ‘cause we know you can’t get enough of these elegantly attired dogs.
