Mikko the Pittie spent most of his life at the shelter. He had no home and no family to give him love. Mikko was rescued from the shelter the day before he was going to be euthanized by Ruff Start Rescue–a No-Kill rescue organization in central Minnesota.
There are no details regarding Mikko’s past. No one knows if he ever had a family or a home before. But after being neglected for quite a while, Mikko was terrified of people. However, all of that changed when he met Chad Fleming.
Chad Fleming is a military veteran who was deployed in Iraq for two tours of duty. And now that he is back home, he is suffering from Post Traumatic Stress Disorder. Veterans with PTSD are often paired with a dog to help them deal with their anxiety. And that is how Fleming met Mikko.
When Fleming saw Mikko, he immediately felt a connection between them. And in just six days that he adopted Mikko, they have formed a strong bond. Watch the video below for the full story.
Their relationship is a win-win for both of them. Mikko helps Fleming deal with and ease his anxiety, and Fleming helped Mikko learn to trust humans again.
