California To Consider A Bill Of Rights For Dogs & Cats

On September 25, 1789, the forefathers of America proposed 12 amendments to the United States Constitution. Ten of those amendments were ratified and became what we know of today as the Bill of Rights. Soon, dogs and cats in California may enjoy their own Bill of Rights. While certain laws are designed to protect animals, some would argue they have very few “rights.” For example, we know that keeping dogs couped up in a lab to be used in frivolous testing … Read more

Dog Walker Comes Across Gentle Pit Bull Tied To A Tree With A Note Attached

When Eric Maus was walking in Prospect Park with a couple of clients, Gouda and Lily, he came across the saddest sight. Next to the tree in the park, there was a Pit Bull tied up with a note attached to the chain around its neck.

Image/Story Source Credit: Eric Haus / TheDodo

“Take me home. I’m a great dog. I’m 7 years old. Don’t let my size scare you. I’m sweet.”

When Eric approached two other dogs, the Pit Bull was the definition of gentle and friendly.

Image/Story Source Credit: Eric Haus / TheDodo

When the dog walker found Mamas, he knew she couldn’t stay in Prospect Park by herself. Within minutes of posting a plea for help on a neighborhood Facebook page, Eric had responses. One person offered to meet Mamas by the tree and rescue them from the outside of the park. The local animal shelter system had an available kennel for Mamas. The dog was taken to the Sean Casey Animal Rescue.

Image/Story Source Credit: Eric Haus / TheDodo

They walked out of the park together, but Mamas had to take it slowly. Due to her size and a possible bladder infection, the dog couldn’t walk at a normal pace. She was then loaded up to head to the rescue, and it was there that her hesitancy went away completely!

Mamas was so ready to move on to a new chapter in life and jumped right out of the car to proceed into the shelter! It’s as if she knew she was finally safe.

Image/Story Source Credit: Eric Haus / TheDodo

Mamas needs to stay through the required stray hold and receive a clean bill of health, but then she’ll be put up for adoption to get her forever home!

Image/Story Source Credit: Eric Haus / TheDodo

In the meantime, Mamas is happy to be out of the park and surrounded by people who love and care for her. Eric knows whoever adopts this sweet girl will be very lucky to have her!

Abandoned Dog Sat On The Street Next To A Cardboard Box And Nothing Else

When they arrived on scene they saw the Chihuahua sitting on the side of the road next to a torn-up cardboard box waiting for its only human friends. The pup didn’t trust anyone—with the exception of people that had food.

She Thought He Was Another Abuse Case, But His Microchip Scan “Freaked Her Out”:

It was an unlikely sight for shelter workers when they found a beautiful purebred Husky named Nate roaming the streets like a stray. However, it was soon established that Nate was very different from other homeless dogs. His hollow and haunted eyes clearly spoke of a disturbing past, and he was extremely skittish and shut himself down. Please meet Nate, this is his story!

Image/Story Source Credit: YouTube Video

When the workers scanned Nate for a microchip, his behavior finally made sense. The poor guy was registered under a laboratory and had been subjected to the most brutal testing procedures for months on end.

Image/Story Source Credit: YouTube Video

What’s worse was that the irresponsible lab remorselessly dumped him on the streets because they didn’t want to deal with his “psychologically disturbed” state. The shelter reached out to the workers of Beagle Freedom Project, who had experience with animal testing victims before.

Together, they found a foster mom who was ready to embrace Nate with all his scars. She made an intense rehab plan and worked with him for months to drive away his trauma. Toward the end of his video, we see Nate smiling brightly as he’s finally ready for his forever home.

Image/Story Source Credit: YouTube Video

He may look like a “normal dog” now, but his foster mom believes that he will always be a special warrior to her. Every year, thousands of animals suffer and rot in labs in the name of human greed. It’s about time we stand up for lab test victims and raise our voices against the inhumane treatment of these animals.

It turns out, Bal Bal’s actions are actually a daily ritual to greet his elderly caretaker grandma who arrives by the bus, who he loves and worships with all of his heart. It all began when Grandma found Bal Bal after he was hit by the car. He had no movement and was on the verge of death, but Grandma didn’t give up on him and nursed him back to life.

Pit Bull Escaped Miserable Life, Man Held Her And Said To Wife “This Is My Puppy”

One woman found a pit bull sitting all by herself next to a railroad track. It had been raining and the dog’s coat was covered in mud. It had a collar on that looked like a choke collar and a chain tied around its neck. The woman approached the dog but as soon as she got close, it ran away from her.

The woman continued to try and get close to the frightened dog that may have been neglected or abandoned. The dog was patently fearful from being starved from neglect, shaking from the cold, and have been waiting for a long time outside. The woman recounts finally getting a hold of her friends to help save the dog who had no signs of coming near her.

The women who tried to free the dog obviously didn’t give up. The pup was nearly hysterical and it took four hours until one veteran rescuer could calmly get a leash around the dog. With the panicked animal, everything got messy and she no longer had a way out. There was no other choice but for her to lay peacefully.

Image/Story Source Credit: TheDodo – YouTube Video

The pup was so traumatized and the rescuer sat down with her and was hoping to calm her before touching her. She didn’t want the frightened dog to lash out. The Pit Bull began to notice that these women were not going to hurt her and she finally let her body relax. They decided to name this girl Pittie Cardi (after Cardi B).

After Cardi was rescued by the rescuers, she allowed a kind man to hold her. She really began to understand that her entire life was about to change!

Cardi met her foster parents and that first night, her foster dad decided to sleep on the floor with her. She was scared and uncertain and he could sense that fear. He laid with her for six whole hours and the next morning he told his wife, “This is my puppy.”

Dog Too Weak To Move In Woods, Concealed Gifts That Were Depleting Her

As they approached the dog, she was concealing a litter of puppies. The mama dog was too weak to move, but her puppies continued to nurse- depriving her of even more nutrients. The women had to act fast. They ran back home and got food and water.

Deformed Dog Gets Ignored Because Adopters Think He’s Hideous

All dogs are beautiful. It doesn’t matter if they have special needs, permanent scars, or untraditional features, they are still precious creatures that deserve to be cherished. One dog, named Walter, was overlooked and left behind at a shelter. The reasons why the dog was overlooked (many times) broke a certain animal lover’s heart. The animal lover, a woman named Gabby, was already at the shelter rescuing another dog when she was called over by a volunteer to meet Walter.

The volunteer said, “Hey Gabby, you’ve got to see this dog!” The volunteer knew that Gabby rescued dogs with special needs and thought she might be able to help Walter find a forever home. As soon as Gabby laid eyes on the unique pup, she knew he was anything but ordinary. She had never seen a dog that was this skinny or had such a pronounced underbite. He also had obvious deformities to his legs and spine. Gabby didn’t care. She wanted to hold Walter and introduce herself.

Gabby understood that Walter wasn’t just distinctive and special to her, she also realized the cold hard truth. Walter would be very hard to place because of his special needs and he’d either languish in the shelter for a long time or be put down. Most people cringed when they passed by Walter’s kennel. Many folks thought the dog was just plain ugly. But not Gabby! She thought he was perfect.

The kind-hearted woman knew right there that she had to take Walter home and adopt him herself. Gabby easily overlooked the dog’s “flaws.” To her, Walter was flawless. It didn’t matter that he didn’t look like other dogs or that he wouldn’t live a long life; all that mattered was that he was capable of love and Gabby was capable of giving him a good life.

Walter has a rare genetic condition called mucopolysaccharidosis, also known as MPS VI. Sadly, it is a terminal progressive disorder. But even though Walter could not have a long life, it doesn’t mean he couldn’t have a good life. When Walter went home with Gabby, she could see right away that he’s extraordinary. He’s happy all the time. He’s determined to walk (and even try to run) as much as possible. Even though it’s hard on his body to get around, not much stopped Walter. And Gabby loved that!

Man Held 1.8 lb Unconscious Chihuahua Puppy That Wasn’t A Chihuahua At All

Rescuers from Dallas RRR found a teeny tiny puppy barely clinging to life. He was so weak that he couldn’t keep his eyes open for long or hold his tiny head up. The puppy, they later named Stuart, was so shockingly small that he only weighed 1.8 pounds.

Because of Stuart’s tiny stature, he was classified as a Chihuahua– but he wasn’t. What blew rescuers away was what the vet told them next, this puppy, that’s under 2 pounds, was actually a Pit Bull. He was so severely anemic from a tick and flea infestation that he needed blood transfusions immediately or he wouldn’t survive.

The first two days of Stuart’s rescue were so scary that rescuers didn’t think he’d make it. But they weren’t giving up on him, that’s for sure. Three days later, Stuart began improving. He went from being in and out of consciousness to being awake for hours at a stretch. Now it was time to find Stuart a foster home. A woman named Susan was happy to open her heart to the little fighter.

Wounded And Alone, Puppy Climbed Onto Abandoned Porch, Dreamt Of His Angels

A tiny helpless puppy was seen lying on a porch. He was in such distress that he wasn’t moving. A rescuer luckily was called in and when she approached the little pup, she could tell he was critically injured. The porch belonged to an abandoned house. Where did the little guy come from?

The rescuer searched for his mother just in case she needed help too. But his mama was nowhere to be found. She named the little pup Bernard and put him into her car. She kept talking to him and told him over and over it would be okay. He was unresponsive but finally, after a few minutes, he let out a little cry.

Bernard was taken straight to the vet clinic. He had a wound on his back that needed to be treated. Once he was out of the woods, the rescuer could look for a foster home. He stayed at the clinic until he was cleared. The rescuer made some phone calls and found Bernard a foster mom that was willing to take in such a young puppy. He needed to be bottle-fed and Dina was happy to do it.

The tiny pup took to sucking on a pacifier for comfort. Dina gave him a rainbow teddy bear as well hoping it would keep him company. Bernard bonded to the bear right away. As Bernard continued to heal and get bigger, Dina grew confident that he could go on to his forever home. She would miss him but she had to make room for new fosters and Bernard needed to start his new life.

Stray Fought So Hard That She Fainted Against The Steps Of A Convenience Store

When an animal has to fend for herself, everything becomes more challenging, especially staying safe and healthy. Homeless animals contend with hunger, exposure to the elements, disease, and even fights with other strays. One dog was found all on her own lying near the entrance to a 7-11. She found a spot where she felt safe, by the front step, and passed out.

Thankfully, a kind human saw the dog and called a rescue organization immediately. The woman waited with the dog until help arrived. The poor pup was so depleted that she couldn’t even wake up. Her face was swollen, likely from a bite from another animal. It is unclear if it was from another stray dog or cat that fought her for food or if it was from an encounter with a hungry wild animal.

The rescue ambulance pulled up soon after. The woman who found the dog was so relieved to see them! These animal rescuers were amazing! They had their own state-of-the-art vehicle, uniforms, and plenty of equipment in case an animal needed urgent intervention. The rescuers called the vet clinic and told them they were bringing a dog, that was in bad shape, straight over.

Once they loaded the dog into the ambulance, they gave her IV fluids. This helped tremendously! When they arrived at the clinic, the dog had perked up a bit and was able to walk from the crate into the exam room. She proved that she was disoriented and had never been inside a building before. She walked straight into the glass windows. But luckily she didn’t hurt herself.

Elderly Man Dying Of Cancer Breaks Down While Saying Final Goodbye To His Dogs

The casual brutality of death and disease has always been a merciless reminder of the transitory nature of life. This is the heart-rending story of a dying Grandpa and his 2 loyal dogs named Arong and Asoon, who are haunted by their impending farewell. This is an absolute heartbreaker and you’ll need those tissues handy.

For Grandpa, Arong and Asoon were not just pets – they were his family. He nurtured and raised them like children, while the dogs’ whole world revolved around their elderly human. But their happy little paradise came crashing down when Grandpa got diagnosed with cancer. He was getting haggard and weaker each day, but he still looked after Arong and Asoon to the best of his capacity.

One day, Grandpa suffered a stroke and collapsed, and had to be rushed to the ER. The verdict was loud and clear – the poor man didn’t have much time on his hands. But even when vitality was slipping through his fingers like sand, all he could think of was the fate of his 2 darling dogs.

While Grandpa was away at the hospital, Arong and Asoon were consumed with anxiety. They would cry and moan as if they knew something ominous was about to happen. A kind neighbor took care of the dogs’ needs while Grandpa was gone, but the dogs were inconsolable thinking about the scary future.

In this video, we see the partially paralyzed Grandpa coming to terms with his terminal illness and deciding to do right by his furry kids. He laments over being an “incapable” old dad to Arong and Asoon, and breaks down in tears as he resolves to “not hurt them twice”. He entrusts the pair to an animal welfare group with the hope that they will live on prosperously after his death.

Dog Is Put Into Inmate’s Jail Cell, Inmate Sees The Dog And Swiftly Grabs Him

A dog’s unswerving devotion and unconditional love might be one of the world’s most purifying forces.

This makes perfect sense when we consider how bringing dogs and prisoners together has a strong impact. Since 1939, “Leader Dogs for the Blind” has used dogs to aid in prison rehabilitation, according to this inspiring idea. And it certainly appears to be a no-lose situation!

This initiative, which is funded by several generous sponsorships, allows prisoners to produce hundreds of puppies each year while teaching them to become service dogs. This not only gives the inmates a sense of purpose, but it also decreases their chances of recidivism upon release. What truly sticks out, though, is the strong emotional connection that has been formed between the prisoners and the pups!

This program, which is sponsored by numerous generous contributors, allows prisoners to breed hundreds of puppies every year while also educating them how to become service dogs. This not only gives the convicts a sense of purpose, but it also lowers their chances of reoffending upon release. The strong emotional bond that has been formed between the inmates and the pups stands out most!

This outstanding program aims to reintegrate offenders into society as valuable assets, rather than seeing them as a hated liability. The inmates never feel alienated from society while learning how to train dogs for the real world since they are never alone. This is rehabilitation in its most pure form, and it has improved the lives of millions of people – both inside and outside prison walls!

Pit Bull Found Severely Underweight With Rocks In His Stomach After Adoption

Pit Bull eating rocks

Most people who adopt shelter dogs are angels, but there’s a reason some organizations have a tedious background check before adoption. Shelters and rescues care about where their dogs go, so if they’re able, they want to find the perfect fit for each pup. However, not all shelters have the resources to be as patient. On rare occasions, that could cause a dog to end up in the wrong hands. A 12-year-old Pit Bull was part of a “foster to … Read more
