#7 – Chihuahua
The Chihuahua is named after the state in Mexico from which it is though to have originated, although its history is not fully understood. The breed dates back to the 9th century, as can be seen by archaeological evidence. The breed has been favored as a companion dog in both ancient history and today, where it remains one of the most popular pets in the United States.
