#8 – Xoloitzcuintli
The Xoloitzcuintli, or Mexican Hairless Dog, is a hairless dog breed originating in Mexico. That said, the breed does come in a coated variety. The breed is thought to have been around for the past 3,000 years, making it a fairly ancient breed. It’s naturally occurring hairlessness is thought to be an evolutionary response to the tropical regions its ancestors lived in. The breed was used as a hunting and companion dog by indigenous peoples.
